all my close friends have left for their own exchanges overseas.
lijuan, alyssa, cordelia.
benkheng is leaving too.
i dont really know how I am feeling.
upset, excited, sad? its just a mixture of emotions i guess?
anw, Aly left last night. i didnt have time to say goodbye.
cause i was so caught up with the preparations for our levites' skit.
but i read the letter she gave me.
and i felt something i've prolly never before.
FRIENDSHIP.
after knowing her for 10 years.
We've seen each other almost every other week.
one would think we would be best of friends.
but truth is, we werent.
we never shared with each other how one would with a close friend.
true we talk about our lives, stories and all.
but never in depth. feelings, thoughts.
but in the letter, i felt her overflowing honesty.
and i realised, what i wanted in a good friend is.
honesty.
not how interesting our discussions are.
or whether we have similar music interests or not. its.
how honest we are with each other.
how much we trust each other enough to want to share our deepest thoughts
i wished i had probed more, get her to share more with me.
a little hard now.
now faced with departures, we turn to what we know best.

the moshing crowd ruined the first part though.
after all that waiting in the crowd, being squished. the moment it started
i couldnt take it. had to go outside.
damn sian okay.
but luckily the guys were helping if not it would have been worse.
but standing on the outer side was okay too. could at least concentrate on the music. (:
i love anberlin now.
must convince seth to lend me his babies before i fly

today, the few of us became scared.
after we saw our bank accts.

well, there was def things to improve on. but overall was good! (:

and kbox. was very conservative.
but ice kimo was fun. HAHAHAHAH. josh and I actually wrote that on the board.

ah well. dim sum today was fun too.

oh well, everyone has started school.
it has finally occurred to me that. now only a few of us are free.
wanted to watch UP with the usual people but.
second failed attempt.
but anw, i have Vivien till end of Aug.
i should go exercising.
hmmmmm.
maybe i shld. tmrw.
its exactly ONE MONTH before i fly.
the reality is getting closer.
not to mention i had to wake up at 6am today to reach the visa office
to get my visa done.
i pray hard it will go through. (:

HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!
i love Singapore. truly i do.
all those times when i complained about the education system, the people, policies, the lack of talent.
it was times i picked on flaws our nation had. every country will have their own set of flaws.
now that im about to spend most of the next 3 years away from Singapore, i think i'll miss her.
face it
our country really is amazing. all the things we debated about.
"no identity, no culture, lack of a politcal scene"
well, we're only 44 years old. in comparison with the other great nations, US UK.. etc,
we are not even fighting on equal grounds.
ignoring the superficial flaws, i guess deep down Singapore really has grown so much. and is really one of the best nations to ever live in.
during the Day of His Power, i really felt for Singapore.
i guess God really placed that love in me. now im gg to proudly say im Singaporean.
and even if i start complaining about stuff, deep inside, i will always love her.
praise God for His blessings on this nation! ((:

i've been feeling so lethargic lately. i think i need to readjust my sleeping cycle.
sleeping at 3 and waking up at 11 isnt helping much
and i need to start exercising.
oh man but i feel so.
wasted lately. ):

we went to ACJC to support Tobias in the
Physical Theatre Festival.
was nice especially the last play.

moved many of us to tears.

then cabbed bck with bishannies and bong.

today was funny.
6 of us went into a hyundai, driven by a less than a week old driver.
we made a wrong turn into the condo carpark instead of cathay's
and had a traumatic experience as Derek U turned by into the road to turn in.
oh well.
today was fun except now im down with a fever.

today during the induction talk,
there was a segment of the time given to the principal of Northlight
well, all i can say
is that it really tugged at my heartstrings.
when i hear the stories she tell,
i really think of TYA and the children.
i understand her circumstance
and i was really reminded about how much these people really need us to show them love.
without any strings attached.
i really thank God for my life.
its amazing.

well, updates on OBS
Day One: 30th June
We all met at Punggol Jetty. Met Grace Dilan Leo at the bus stop.
well i didnt know them i just got to know them. hahaha.
turns out the guys are Local Scholars.
Anw, We left for Ubin.
and separated to Watches.
(:
we did High Elements and all.
then packed for expedition the next day.
Day Two: 1st July
Woke up at 5 plus. had morning games.
slacked ard for a while because weather was Cat 1
lightning and thunder
started kayaking only at 10 left for sea exp. immediately
after that was pretty boring.
kayak kayak kayak
lunch in the sea.
kayak. turned from the sea into Mangrove river.
became meandering so we had to pay attention
was lying down in kayak while waiting for Navigators. hahaha.
that was fun.
though welooked kinda wasted.
Carried kayak up mud bank.
sunk in swamp.
mud was gross. and black. yuck.
our favourite "Thomas" capsized near the toilet. (((: to the delight of ZZ
finally got out of swamp and into sea
FINALLY
reached campside.
set up tents and cooked dinner.
sat ard talking
had htht with gekfong.
slept. with alots of gossiping and chitchatting before.
i kinda embarrassing Anna alot. HAHAHA. ((: with the
" YOU LIKE...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Wenlin was amused.
we made the guys put prickly heat around our tents. OH WELL
Day Three:2nd July
Woke up 5.30, half an hour earlier.
Packed up and had breakfast
planned out our land exp. route.
and SET OFF! ((:
then was just walking and singing. making loads of noise with wenlin and zhenming
on the 8th hour, it started pouring.
so we walked in the rain. (:
was fun!
when we reached
we just SHOWERED. so happy to see toilets. and the rooms felt super clean.
((:
went for solo night walk.
i was scared but i didnt show it. i just sang and spoke to God while i was walking.
our watch gathered to talk nonsense, and about life in future.
slept after midnight.
walk up early,
packed up.
had our last activity.
which was jumping off a platform to hit a bell.
i really thought i couldnt do it. but i guess Im Longer than i thought i was.
we just chilled at the jetty,
learnt more about Gekfong.
then we left Ubin! (:
really thank God for this camp. he really answered my many prayers.
at the beginning i told him, i dont want this camp to just be anyother.
i want it to be something that pushes me out of my comfort zone,
and that i'll appreciate His goodness for me.
i guess it did but not to the extent i couldnt bear it.
he answered my prayers at night when i prayed that i would be able to sleep in the new environment
he answered my prayers when i prayed for Hsi Wen that we both will sleep well in the tent.
he answered my prayers during the sea exp. when it didnt rain at all.
he led me to pray for other people in my watch. (:

TYA retreat. ((:
was fun fun fun. OMG.
playing saboteur, Taboo till 4/5 am.
Captain's Ball, winning 2 out of 3 tying one,
Acoustic Sessions at the staircase lobby.
Laughing over our "infra-red Warmer" Patron Pager,
complaining about service at Ah Mei's.
Jokes about MiMi.
flying saucer prata.
shows that made us cry,
best TV series.
I really heart 318!
hanging out with fee, oli, wilson, ben, melwin, songchoon.
BEST. EVER. (:
15 mins "ice cream" trip became a 2 hour 45 min hang out.

this summarises the camp.

On the first day (Day 1 mass games)
we walked into camp
met our new friends
and korkors jiejies
then we played some really funny games
stuck on some stickers and
ran with our friends.
On the first night (Day 1 Night water game)
we conquered the flags
Alpha had the game right
in the bag
we bonded through the exper-ience
unity and responsibilty
As we go on, we remember
all the times we had together
and as our lives change
come whatever, we will still be
friends forever
just yesterday we played lots of games (Day 2 Teambuilding Games)
like climbing up ladders
and sliding down snakes
and we learnt to be united as one
cheering our clan
cheering as one.
they made us blind (Day 2 Structured Experience )
they made us climb
made us crawl through a tunnel of slime
but we learnt how to face our fears
managed to hold back our bucket of tears

| SURVIVAL CAMP 2009 |

This year's camp, was TRULY awesome.
Praise God.
even though i couldnt stay the first 2 nights and was really upset about it,
having to stay away from the school and meeting up illegally,
i really wanna give Glory to God.
i think it was his plan to let me rest at home,
and to really get my focus right.
It was not about running the camp, or being close to counselors.
it was about reflecting Christ and showing His Love to the Children who need it.
This year, the committee chose to put God first.
we dedicated the camp to Him, and we did everything unto His Glory.
It made a difference.
with Him as our priority,
the camp went smoothly.
He that is in the world knows our weakness, attacked some of us.
like my whole having to stay away thing, knowing that this camp meant the world to me.
and some other people had issues affecting them right before the camp.
BUT in the end, nothing could really stop us because God is on our side,
and knowing that He is in full control, we managed.
No events had MAJOR hiccups
they went as smoothly as we planned (with the inspiration of HS)
and i believe EVERY SINGLE camper went home with the knowledge of
R and U
and how to apply it to their Lives.
I praise God that even though i couldnt have debrief with my kids,
or spend more time with them,
i managed to get to know some of them.
they are really amazing kids.
like farhan. He's is one of the MOST responsible kid i've EVER met.
and really, God affirmed me of my passion in my ministries.
both TYA and Gkidz.
not to mention the great r/ships i've built.
the camp committee who was so supportive,
of my mass dance, and the clan song and everything.
was really cool to see all of you grooving when the song comes on. and
a natural instinct to start dancing.
to the committee who dared to stand infront of everybody to dance,
and the dance partners who stood infront with me, having to convert the steps into mirror image.

got to see VIVIEN GAN with kids. Really REALLY proud of her.
she really can relate to them (maybe something to do with her natural behaviour)
and seeing her get along so WELL with my churchies like childhood "sweetheart" alyo.
i get really excited when my school circle of friends merge with church. (:
and GINA! finally got to know you. you're awesome with kids! ((:
for people who prayed for me when i was so disappointed the first two days
Isabel(thanks babe. you fought for me), crystal yingchao, FEEPOKE, pastor and aaron.
or all my counselors in ALPHA FOR BEING THE COOLEST COUNSELORS.

for other people who made this SUPER SUPER FUN.
random talks with wilson, melvin, charmaine, alyo-ssa, pamelia, linus(even though you called me an ingrate) and many more.
ITS SO AWESOME I CAN GO ON ABOUT IT FOR ANOTHER 2 WEEKS.

the colgate incident on the bus involving kenneth and aaron ( who conveniently wiped it on my knees after he failed)
and of course. THE CHILDREN FROM ALPHA.

ytd was church, then factory outing. i bought sunglasses.
today, we woke up early,. 3 hour drive to Nambung Nature Reserve, to visit the Pinnacles.
i havent been there since i was, 4.
i would say. it was enjoyable. ((:
sun was hot, BUT it was 25-26.

i heart cold weather.
not wet.
it just stopped pouring.
